Bridgehouse Equestrian Centre - Mini Cross Country 18th July 2010

Bridgehouse are based near Horsham, Sussex. They have a livery yard and also organise a number of events each year. The mini cross country is a new event for them this year and proved to be great fun, giving the less experienced riders a chance to try out some cross country style courses. The last class was a little more complex, with higher jumps, a ditch and a few more advanced fence styles.

Heros Show - Newbury Show Ground 4th July 2010

The Heros Show takes place every year at the Newbury Show Ground. Heros is a charity which deals with the welfare of retired race horses. You can find out more about the Heros Charity by following this link.

The weather man had it wrong again! The forecast was for clear blue skies and lovely sunshine, the actual weather was cloudy and very very windy! So much so that one of the two gazebos we had set up was pretty much destroyed and the other one had to be put down before it also collapsed!

The numbers were down this year, following the trend we've seen on a number of shows this summer. However, those that did turn up had a great day and hopefully took home a photo or two and the memories of that day with them.

Hall Place Cross Country - 27th June 2010

Hall Place is an excellent riding centre for cross country events, with woods and lots of field space the courses are fun and challenging. Since last year a number of new jumps and obsticles have been added to the course with areas of the woods being cleared to allow for more options.

From a photography point of view this gave us some opportunities to take action photographs inside the woods, something we have not been able to do easily in the past due to lack of light. The end result was a good selection of new fences that we have never been able to photograph before.

The event itself had a good turn out of riders although the spectators were few and far between. This would most likely be due to the England v Germany World Cup football game that was taking place that afternoon and possibly due to the extreme heat that day.

Berks Riding Club Show - Newbury 20th June 2010

This is always a popular show and this year was no exception. Last year the show jumping had been very busy and was still going long after everything else had finished.

This year the showing classes were much bigger and they took the crown. The weather was good to us with the sun shinning!

Wanborough Spring Show 12th June 2010

Wanborough Show is another new event on our calendar this year. The show is actually split between a dog show and a horse show held on two seperate venues close to each other. There were two rings of show jumping and a number of rings of showing and working hunter.

There appeared to be a good turn out on the day, the weather possibly helping as it was a scorcher! We shot great images on the day, which are still available to
order via our website.

West Surrey Riding Club - Show 6th June 2010

A new event on the calendar for us this year. The West Surrey Riding Club Show was held at Cranleigh Show Ground and covered a mixture of Showing, Show Jumping and Working Hunter classes. It was nice to be welcomed warmly by the organisers and participants alike.

The venue itself was excellent, with nice open fields and plenty of parking. Luckily the weather held out with just a little drizzle that only lasted a few minutes.

Once again there was a good turn out of young riders who were given every encouragement by the judges and spectators!

Hall Place - Show Jumping 31st May 2010

Another successful day at Hall Place with a good turn out even with the mixed weather. Once again there were classes catering for all levels of rider from minimalist 1'6 through to 3'0.

The numbers of riders entering the higher classes has increased this year and there is a new generation of young riders starting to jump in competitions for the first time.

All in all it seemed everyone had a good day! You can find the results if the jumping here.

Hall Place - Dressage 28th March 2010

The sky looked grey at 8am but thankfully the weather kept to it's part of the bargain and by 9am the clouds had broken up a little with the odd break in the cloud revealing a warmish spring sun.

The event was held across two arenas, one a grass arena and one a rubber track arena. The registration for the event was pretty good with a good number of riders turning up. There was an enjoyable atmosphere as both new and experience riders took turns to ride their tests.

Hall Place - Spring Half Term Show
15th February 2010

Due to the adverse weather during December 2009 the Hall Place Equestrian Centre Christmas show was rescheduled for the 15th February 2010. The show jumping and games took place as planned, although there was no appearance from Santa as he is now sleeping soundly back in Lapland!

Although the weather was some what grey and damp there was still a good turn out. With a clear round followed by show jumping classes from 2'0 to 2'6 followed by Puissance there was something for all levels of rider.

RPE Events are the proud sponsors of the "JUNIOR ROYLE RIDER" championship, which in 2009 was won by Poppy Hitchin. Poppy was presented with the winners trophy by Kevin Royle.

Welcome to the RPE Events Blog!

On behalf of RPE Events I would like to welcome you to our blog!

During 2009 we received more and more requests for information about the events we have covered and those we are planning to cover. It became apparent that having a blog would not only allow us to keep in touch with our existing base of clients but also give an in-site into what we do to those who we have not worked with in the past.

2010 is gearing up to be a very exciting and busy year for us, with the events calendar already starting to shape up nicely. There is no doubt that equestrian sports are becoming very popular with those people who want to be active and enjoy the great outdoors!

Whether you enjoy the challenge of taking a horse over a cross country course or a more complex show jumping course. Perhaps you like the more technical aspects of dressage or the care and dedication needed to keep a horse in tip top condition for showing. Whatever discipline you prefer, RPE Events offers unsurpassed equestrian photography to capture those moments forever, our reputation speaks for itself!
